Health care provider conference a success
On May 8, WorkSafeBC's Health Care Services hosted the 5th annual Health Care Provider Conference at the Hilton Metrotown hotel in Burnaby.
The conference, which was attended by 230 physiotherapists, occupational therapists, kinesiologists, chiropractors, psychologists, and others, examined a variety of topics, including:
- The health care provider's role in preventing spread of communicable diseases
- Caring for patients with spinal cord injury
- Cognitive behaviour therapeutic approaches
- Assessment, treatment, and predictability of low back, pelvic, and hip injuries
- Motivational interviewing techniques and
- Tendinopathies
"The keynote speaker, Warren MacDonald, captivated the audience with his engaging presentation and inspirational message,” says Geoff Dalmer, Health Care Services program manager and conference planning committee chair. “Participants also enjoyed networking with their colleagues and with the exhibitors.”
The conference was a resounding success, based on the feedback received from delegates, adds Geoff. One delegate said the conference was “better than expected” and another stated it “was the third HCP seminar I’ve attended in the past five years. This was by far the best one for me. Kudos to the planning committee for a job well done.”
“Thank you to the speakers who provided informative, engaging, and high quality presentations,” says Geoff, “and to the sponsors, exhibitors, and our dedicated volunteers. We couldn’t have done it without you.”
Some conference presentations are now online. See the agenda for available presentations.
